Dedicated to the memory of Ian Aldus

This site is a tribute to Ian Aldus. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

Our first grandchild was born with a cleft palate.  Noah had the massive advantage of fantastic treatment and care from the NHS and for that we were very grateful because, without treatment, a cleft palate is a life-changing and life-long condition.  Members of the same team that treated Noah worked with the Smile Train charity to treat children living with cleft in countries where treatment options for children from ordinary families are very limited.

A cleft repair costs around £250 and is life-changing for the recipient. Since 2008, as a way of 'paying forward' we have donated to the Smile Train monthly and at Christmas and estimate that we have contributed to complete cleft repair for around 50 children.

This cause was very close to Ian's heart and it would be a fitting tribute to him to change the lives of more children who are less fortunate than our own grandchildren.
